Entering his sixth season at the helm of Eastern Nazarene’s women's soccer program, head coach Steve Hamilton has completely transformed the team.
In 2011, Hamilton led ENC to the best winning percentages in school history, both in conference and overall play. Under his guidance, Kara Webber ‘12 was named as an All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Second Team selection.
In 2009, his squad broke the school record for total wins, conference wins, as well as numerous individual records. The team has also been successful off of the field, holding a cumulative GPA of 3.31 and involving themselves in local community service projects.
“Our players understand that they belong to something bigger than just a team," Hamilton said. "We’re a family, dedicated towards pursuing greatness in all things; an understanding that affects every decision we make on and off the pitch. We will never stop in that endeavor."
Prior to his arrival at Eastern Nazarene College, Hamilton had a two-year stint as the head coach at Genesee Community College (Batavia, N.Y.). Posting an overall record of 20-16, he is credited with recruiting 23 new student-athletes in a single recruiting season. The team was the WNYAC Champions in 2006 and recorded the highest national ranking in school history, being the first GCC Women’s Soccer team to ever reach the Regional Final Four. An impressive feat in one recruiting season, Hamilton turned the soccer program into a regional powerhouse.
A 1999 graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College, Hamilton participated in both soccer and track and field, and went on to play soccer for Fraser Valley Action FC in Vancouver, B.C. Hamilton earned his Masters of Science in Exercise Science, specializing in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention from California University of Pennsylvania. He holds the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National, Advanced National, and Premier Diplomas.
Hamilton and his wife, Gwen, have been blessed with two beautiful children, Jonan and Ava. Gwen teaches at Campus Kinder Haus, where both Jonan and Ava attend. They reside in Quincy, Mass.
