Seahawks defense puts the brakes on Lions, 56-43.

February 17, 2010. Newport, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene women's basketball team fell to The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) opponent Salve Regina tonight, 56-43, at the Rodgers Recreation Center in Newport, RI. The Lions fell under the stifling Seahawks defense, which held them to a season low 30% field goal shooting percentage, allowing only one Lion to score in double digits.
Freshman center Shardae Brown
[Waterbury, Conn.] keyed a mini-comback for the Lions as they cut the lead
in half to go into the break down just seven (29-22). When freshman forward Alexis
Malloy [Greenbelt, Md.] hit a free throw for the first point of the second
half, Eastern Nazarene was as close as it was going to be the
rest of the game.
On the other side of the court, ENC could not stop the shooting of Seahawks Erin Phillips who led all scorers with 23 points. A pair of freshman led the Lions tonight. Shardae Brown (Waterbury, CT) led the visiting Lions with 13 points as she shot 6 for 12 from the floor while Alexis Malloy (Greenbelt, MD) led all players under the rim with 14 rebounds.
Eastern Nazarene falls to 8-16 overall and 2-10 in the TCCC as they head into the final game of the season this Saturday vs. Roger Williams University at 1:00 pm on the Quincy, Mass. campus.
