Anchorwomen sink Lions, 3-0.
Providence, RI—Rhode Island College shut out visiting Eastern Nazarene, 3-0, in non-conference women’s volleyball action on Thursday night at The Murray Center. Although both teams struggled to find consistency, the Anchorwomen took the first set, 25-21, won the second, 25-17, and cruised to a 25-9 win in the deciding game.
Senior middle blocker Kristen Johnson (East Providence, RI) paced the offense with nine kills. Freshman middle blocker Kalyn Archer (Warwick, RI) had five kills and three blocks, while classmate outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) equaled her teammate’s offensive output and led the squad with eight digs.
Junior middle blocker Amber Burns (Fall River, MA) led the Lions with four kills and two blocks. Junior setter Bethny Greenfield (Parsippany, NJ) registered eight digs and six assists.
The Anchorwomen won raised their overall record to 15-11 and have
now won 15 or more matches in five of the last six seasons. The Lions
drop to 4-19, having lost their last three matches.
