Wentworth holds lead, defeats Eastern Nazarene, 3-1.

Quincy, MA. The Wentworth Institute
of Technology Leopards (4-21) took a two game advantage and went on to win in a close fourth game to beat the Eastern Nazarene College Lions (4-20) tonight in a Commonwealth Coast
Conference (TCCC) match at ENC's Lahue PE Center in Quincy, Mass. tonight.
The Leopards
jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Lions fought back to take the second game, however
a win for WIT proved inevitable as they collected a win in the final game to
win the match and halt any comeback attempt by ENC.
The Leopards claimed an early lead due to strong team play
that culminated in 35 team kills. They
also played strong defensively, covering all parts of the court with an
impressive 46 digs. Laura Giberson (Hingham, MA) led the Lions in kills with 7 and she
also had 9 digs. Her serving was also a
major contribution to ENC’s win in game 3 as she served eight points in the
rally to steal the win and stay alive. Kaitlyn Yoder (Smithsburg, MD) also led
the team defensively with 11 digs and she also contributed offensively with 5
kills.
Eastern Nazarene College will try for their fifth win of the
season when they square off against Becker College on the road this Thursday in
a non-conference match, and Wentworth Institute of Technology will take on
UMASS-Dartmouth at home this Thursday as well.
