Outside Scholarships

Scholarships and grants are available from a variety of sources, including federal and state governments and private sources, such as employers, professional associations, and educational institutions. Sallie Mae has a great website with some tips on how to get started with your scholarship applications. Another helpful resource on how to win a scholarship can be found on the FinAid.Org website.

Once you are organized and understand how the process works, here are a few places to look for Outside Scholarships:

  • Your high school Guidance Counselor or College Prep. Office may have scholarships specific to your home town or high school
  • Your parent's employers
  • Your Town Hall and local library

Online databases are another great place to look:
