Catcher Laura Giberson of the ENC Lion’s Softball team hit a walk-off homerun to win the game 10-9 in extra innings versus Regis College last night.

After a tough loss in their first game losing 2-1 to the Regis Pride in extra innings, the Lady Lions of ENC were hungry to win their next game. Both the Pride and the Lions battled back and forth with good offense and defense throughout the game, and the two teams continued their fight for victory into the eighth inning.

Starting with Jacquelyn Greenwood on second base, Bethany Greenfield stepped up to the plate and hit a double to the fence that allowed Greenwood to advance to third base. Up next Jacquelyn Tierney had a hard hit up the middle of the field allowing Greenwood and Greenfield to score to tie up the game 9-9. Tierney unfortunately was caught in a rundown at second base to become the first out. With no one on base, two outs, and a count of 0-2 at the plate, senior Laura Giberson saw the pitch she wanted and hit the ball up the middle and out of the park for a walk-off homerun to win the game for the Lions 10-9.

The Lady Lions take on Western New England College at Mitchell McCoy Field in Quincy on Thursday at 3:00pm.
