The Eastern Nazarene College History Department will present a lecture by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Gordon Wood at 7 p.m. Thursday November 4 in Shrader Lecture Hall. The lecture is free and the public is invited to attend.
Wood’s lecture will be based on his recent book, Empire of Liberty: A History of the Early Republic: 1789-1815. One of the leading historians on the period, Wood is also the author of The Americanization of Benjamin Franklin, The Creation of the American Republic, 1776-1787 and The Radicalism of the American Revolution, which won the Pulitzer Prize for History and the Ralph Waldo Emerson Prize in 1993. A professor at Brown University, Wood regularly writes reviews for the New Republic and the New York Review of Books. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society.
