Holiday favorites and jazz arrangements will be among the musical selections performed by ENC’s Symphonic Winds and 4 O’Clock Jazz Ensemble in their annual winter concert on 7:30pm Friday Dec. 2, in the Cove Fine Arts Center.
Comprised of ENC students, adults and area high school students, the 35-member Symphonic Winds will perform a variety of holiday selections, including “Christmas Music for Winds,” “Holiday for Winds” and “A Jazzy Christmas.” The 4 O’Clock Jazz Ensemble will then present a variety of stylistically different pieces including big band arrangements such as Count Basie’s “Jumpin’ at the Woodside,” “Zoot Suit Riot” and more.
“The audience will enjoy expected Christmas favorites, a few surprises with new arrangements of Christmas songs, and a variety of great concert literature,” said Stephen Bell, director of both ensembles. “We invite everyone to come and discover these local ensembles at this free concert. It’s a great way to begin the Christmas season.”
Refreshments will be served following the performance. For more information, call 617-745-3715
