Sophomore Elizabeth Blanchette

Elizabeth Blanchette, a Dean’s list sophomore music major from Southwick, MA, has been chosen for a fully funded summer internship with the Cambridge College Programme at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England. This invitation-only internship welcomes selected scholars to experience the culture and sights of England through courses taught by British lecturers. Elizabeth has been named Assistant Director to the programme and will be responsible for organizing and developing activities and community service opportunities for the participating scholars.

Members of the programme will travel to historic locations such as the Tower of London, Bath, Stonehenge, Stratford-Upon-Avon, and will attend both the famous Cambridge Shakespearian Festival’s performance of Twelfth Night and The Olympic Games. The summer term will conclude with a travel session to France to visit iconic locations in Paris, Claude Monet’s home in Giverny, and a boat tour on the River Seine.

“I am so excited about this magnificent opportunity,” she said. “I am filled with gratitude to the Lord for giving me this astonishing gift.”

Blanchette participated in the Cambridge College Programme in 2010 in conjunction with the National Society of High School Scholars and was selected based on her GPA, community service, extra curricular activities, and essay submission. Five-hundred students are selected internationally for the programme. She was invited back in a staff position for the summer and is one of five staff members traveling with the group to Paris.

“I plan on leading a Bible study group in addition to my other duties,” Blanchette said. “Please pray I am able to share the love of Christ with my co-workers and fellow students.”

At ENC, Blanchette is involved in the Sign Language Club, A Cappella Choir, and Choral Union, and will join the cast of the fall musical, “Bye Bye Birdie”. She is passionate about ministering to the homeless and has volunteered at homeless shelters and soup kitchens. She donates shoeboxes for the annual Operation Christmas Child program and has raised funds and purchased gifts for Shriners Hospital Children’s Annual Christmas Party for twelve years.
