Dr. Detwiler has been teaching at ENC since 1960 and has coached since the mid-50s. Currently, she is the chair of the movement arts department and is the athletic director at ENC. In 1991, she was inducted into the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) for outstanding achievements in volleyball coaching. Her published papers, one of which was presented to the Seoul Olympic Scientific Congress, are focused on teacher behaviors and emotional involvement. Dr. Detwiler notes that, "involvement has been significantly related to achievement in the teaching-learning process." She lives with her husband in Quincy and has two grown children.
