Faculty Profile: Stephen Bell

Stephen Bell has been the Director of Instrumental Music and part of the Music Education faculty at ENC since 2002. Mr. Bell has studied conducting with Frank Battisti, Malcolm Rowell, and John Paynter. Prior to his coming to ENC, he worked for the Rockland Public Schools for thirty three years. In his time in Rockland he served as the director of the high school marching band, concert band, and jazz ensemble. He finished his career as the Director of Music for the entire district until his retirement from the public school sector. Throughout his career he has been an active member of the National Association for Music Education (formerly MENC) and the Massachusetts Music Educator’s Association, which awarded him the Lowell Mason Music Award.
In addition to his work at ENC he teaches private lessons for the Pembroke Public Schools helping students learn clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, oboe and bassoon; he is praise team/ worship leader at the United Parish Church in Carver, MA; and has been Director/conductor of the Sharon Concert Band (sharonbands.org) and the Roy Scott Big Band since 2007.
According to the Music Department Chair, Dr. Kevin D. Smith, Mr. Bell is “a delight to work with and goes way above and beyond expectations in all that he does. He has done great things for our instrumental program.”
