Eastern Nazarene College has a long tradition of enrolling students from many different countries, and can speak proudly to the diversity of students attending the College. Eastern Nazarene is one of the most ethnically diverse Christian colleges in the United States, and the Boston area is the perfect place to study internationally because of the wealth of social, cultural, and research opportunities available to students here. ENC also offers institutional merit-based and need-based financial aid to all incoming International Students.

International Student Eligibility
International Students are those individuals who wish to attend an institution of higher education in the United States, but who hold neither U.S. citizenship nor permanent resident status in the U.S. All International Students applying to Eastern Nazarene College must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent with an acceptable level of academic performance, and possess a proven ability to speak the English language.

International Student Application Requirements
The College grants admission on a rolling basis, so we highly encourage you to complete the application process as soon as possible. In order to complete your admission portfolio and be considered for admission to ENC, you must submit the following materials to the Office of Admissions:

  • Application for Admission
This is the first step in the application process at Eastern Nazarene College. You must personally complete the free online application form and submit it to the Office of Admissions at ENC.

  • Official Transcripts
If you attended high school or college outside the United States or Canada, your transcripts must be sent to either World Education Services (WES) or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) for evaluation. The evaluation agency will send the transcripts, along with the evaluation, to Eastern Nazarene College.

If you attended high school or college in the United States or Canada then you must arrange to have an official signed & sealed copy of your secondary school (if applying as a first-time freshman) or college (if applying as a transfer student) transcripts sent directly to the Office of Admissions at Eastern Nazarene College. For students currently attending high school, a final transcript with a graduation date must be sent to the College immediately after graduation. If your secondary school requires that you submit a request form, you can download ENC's transcript request form.

  • Official Standardized Test Scores and Official TOEFL Score
All first-time freshman applicants must submit to the Office of Admissions an official report of standardized test scores for either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the Assessment Test of the American College Testing Program (ACT). ENC's code for the SAT is 3365 and the ACT is 1818. An Accuplacer test may also be required.

For all non-native English speakers who have not attended secondary school in the United States, English proficiency must also be demonstrated by earning a score of at least 65 on the internet-based version (iBT) of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). ENC's code for the TOEFL is 3365.

  • Academic/Character Recommendation
The Office of Admissions at ENC requires that at least one recommendation be submitted on your behalf from a teacher, tutor, guidance counselor, pastor, or other appropriate non-family member, who can attest to both your academic ability and character. We accept these recommendations in the form of a letter, but you can also download ENC's recommendation form.

Admission to the College is selective, but all applicants have a personal Enrollment Counselor and the application process is intended to be an interactive one. The Director and the Committee on Admissions also employ an assessment method that evaluates all admission criteria equally when making admission decisions. Notification of the admission decision is made year-round, on a case-by-case basis, and as soon as possible after all the required materials have been received.

International Student Enrollment Timeline
For most applicants to Eastern Nazarene College, there are three parts to the process of enrolling as an International Student: the application for admission, the application for financial aid, and the application for visa to enter the U.S. The first part of this process is outlined above, while the third may already be complete if you are an International Student transferring to ENC from another college here in the United States. The application for financial aid and the application for visa to enter the U.S. are outlined as follows:

  • If you are accepted to the College, we will create a financial aid package for you. The acceptance letter includes basic information about your academic scholarship, but before we award need-based aid we first require that you complete a paper/PDF version of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). After completing the form, please return it to either the Office of Admissions or the Office of Financial Aid at Eastern Nazarene College (this is a U.S. government document, but we use its format to award all incoming students need-based aid).

  • Once you have received your financial aid package, you will need to submit a certification of finances form and supporting documentation, to verify figures submitted on the FAFSA and prove the ability to finance at least one academic year. Once this process is complete and you have accepted our offer of admission by submitting your non-refundable enrollment deposit to ENC, we will issue an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant, which you will need as part of the process to request an F-1 student visa.

If you have any questions about the International Student admission process, please do not hesitate to contact your Enrollment Counselor, Alain Poutré, at (617) 745-3865 or alain.poutre@enc.edu.
