Eastern Nazarene College has a long tradition of enrolling students from many different countries, and can speak proudly to the diversity of students attending the College. Eastern Nazarene is one of the most ethnically diverse Christian colleges in the United States, and the Boston area is the perfect place to study internationally because of the wealth of social, cultural, and research opportunities available to students here. ENC also offers institutional merit-based and need-based financial aid to all incoming International Students.
International Student Eligibility Criteria
International Students are those individuals who wish to attend an institution of higher education in the United States, but who hold neither U.S. citizenship nor permanent resident status in the U.S. All International Students applying to Eastern Nazarene College must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent with an acceptable level of academic performance, and possess a proven ability to speak the English language.
International Student Application Process
The College grants admission on a rolling basis, so we highly encourage you to complete the application process as soon as possible. In order to complete your admission portfolio and be considered for admission to ENC, you must submit the following materials to the Office of Admissions:
- Application for Admission
This is the first step in the application process at Eastern Nazarene College. You must personally complete the free online application form and submit it to the Office of Admissions at ENC.
- Official Transcripts
You must arrange to have an official signed & sealed copy of your secondary school (if applying as a first-time freshman) and/or college (if applying as a transfer student) transcripts translated (if applicable) and sent to the Office of Admissions at Eastern Nazarene College. If any of these institutions are located outside of the United States, your transcripts must first be evaluated by either World Education Services (WES) or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). For students currently attending secondary school, a final transcript with a graduation date must be sent to the College immediately after graduation.
- Official TOEFL Score and Official Standardized Test Scores
For non-native English speakers, proof of English proficiency must be submitted through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). ENC's code for the TOEFL is 3365. All applicants must also submit to the Office of Admissions an official report of your standardized test scores for either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the Assessment Test of the American College Testing Program (ACT). ENC's code for the SAT is 3365 and the ACT is 1818. An Accuplacer test may also be required.
- Academic/Character Recommendation
The Office of Admissions at ENC requires that at least one recommendation be submitted on your behalf from a teacher, tutor, guidance counselor, pastor, or other appropriate non-family member, who can attest to both your academic ability and character. We accept these recommendations in the form of a letter, but you can also download ENC's recommendation form.
- Certification of Finances
All International Student applicants must complete an International Student certification of finances form and submit financial documentation that proves the ability to finance at least one academic year.
Admission to the College is selective and based on the information you submit, but we employ an evaluation method that weighs all admission criteria equally. Notification of the admission decision is made on a case-by-case basis and as soon as possible after all the required materials have been received. If you have any questions about the application process, please do not hesitate to contact your Enrollment Counselor, Alain Poutré, at (617) 745-3865 or alain.poutre@enc.edu.
